At FCN 2011,  biscuitpup let me share his hotel room without any pay, with the agreement that I'd owe some sort of artwork to him. I got jabbed with so many stiff badges when hugging friends at the con that I was inspired to try and make a softer badge, such as out of felt!

So, this is all needle felted pre-dyed wool *pantpant* Matted down, poke by poke, with mainly a single needle. I have a three-needle tool that helped for some of the larger areas, but much of this roughly 6x5 inch badge was done with just a single felting needle at a time! There is actual relief to this piece too, which the scanner didn't pick up. The inner mouth is recessed more than the tongue, for example.

This took far too much time to be an economical way to make badges (at least not for an artist as picky as me), unless anyone is willing to pay $70-100 for such a thing. Even then, I'm still not making the 'hourly rate' I think is fair for myself.
As a gift for a super sweet friend though, the effort was worth it :D
