I started a short while back doing Naruto characters as dogs/various animals. So here's Gaara!

This expression just seemed to suit his nature, so I went with it. I really like how this turned out, especially his tattoo. By some stroke of luck I managed to get it on the second try. Needless to say, I'm proud. :3

I kept the shading really simple on this. I derived the colours directly from a screenshot of Gaara. That's his hair colour and the shadow coloured they actually used in the anime. His skin colour was too pink and pale to work as the main fur colour, so I used the tan that they use for the gourd, and again the shadow to compliment. His eye colour is also the same.

I know the box is lopsided. I realised that after I scanned it despite waving a T-square around for two hours in my straight-edge excitement. XD But I sort of like how it's crooked now. It seems to suit him.
