Fifth fire for the new plate. The mother-of-pearl luster is on Celestia...I darkened the background, and added a bit more color shading to the ponies.
If this fires properly, the only thing left is a bit more highlighting...and the lt. blue luster on Luna's hooves, harness/crown, and mane and tail. She's gonna look so pretty!

Sadly, I drew this up JUST BEFORE that ep came out. I still like it, but it is pretty much a scene from BEFORE that change.
I will greatly enjoy doing another plate with Luna's new look after I finish this. ( tho the color paint I use for Luna is a bitch to work with...very hard to smooth out. Purples are like that...)

Well, I never suggested you should trash the plate or try and rework Luna. There's still a market for pre-Eclipsed Luna.
The best compromise would be to keep the lines, but make the interior sparkly as shown on the show. She had to go through at least ONE intermediate stage between Luna from Season 1 and Galadriel!Luna from Season 2.

I have a light blue luster (simular to the mother-of-pearl you see on Celestia, but no swirls or different colors)planned for her mane and tail and hooves. The way it is drawn, I don't think I can do anything to add the interior darker, sparlier bits.

Hmmm...I just had an idea. I can do a second coat of the lt. blue luster on the inside areas of each section of tail and mane...thus acheving the darker look inside the lt. blue. Can't really do the sparkles...I think it's pretty much not possible with the paints I'll be using. I'll see what I can do about that....(without ruining it!!!)
The shading on the pony's bodies is amazing. I can only imagine how long it took to get those colours so smooth.
Here's something you'll get a giggle out of. I finally broke down and watched some new MLP. Every time I saw Celestia all I could think of was that she reminded me of someone - you know that feeling you get when you SHOULD know someone but just can't recall how or why? Finally it dawned on me --- it was YOU! Thanks to your plates you're now welded in my mind to a flying unicorn princess. She'd appear and my brain would go "Oh there's Sandy again"
