Modern Problems (Spoken Word Poetry)
Something I did for my creative writing class that I enjoyed. Hope you guys do too.
Modern Problems
My head explodes
And my brain corrodes
As electrodes probe
Behind my eyelids
Like ice picks
Lobotomy?
Psychology.
Biology.
Sociology.
Society!
Wouldn’t accept me for me
But we, we can stand
On this precipice
Hand in hand
And firmly shout
“We don’t give a damn
That we’re damned!”
By your values
And morals
As mortals
We’re immortal
We don’t need to change
Just to get some change
To chip away
At debts unpaid
By senseless hate
Useless debate
Who’s to say
Who I can and can’t date?
Just because you can’t relate
It doesn’t give you license
To deny my license to be wed
Or have another guy in my bed
These are modern problems it seems
And solutions are in meadows of dreams
But while hate still has such force
It’s my right to say “up yours!”
