This is the original concept drawing I put together for a Derecho costume. While Clockwork Creature produces the head and hands (gloves) I worked with a Pittsburgh seamstress I met at AC to make the rest of the outfit look like this. It's three-tone blue, with a different shade of blue each for the trousers, shirt, and cape. Vest (tails and all) are a cool textured black pleather. Some mean-looking black boots have been acquired to go underneath.
One piece I didn't really consider -- I still need a belt for all of this, preferably one that can hang some mage-y small bags and trinkets from. Any ideas where I might be able to get one?
Per
aeto 's suggestion I'm also in the market for a staff. This was a large part of the reason I went to the Bristol renfaire over the summer, and I was most disappointed to not find any that suited me at any price. There is a regular vendor at AC who has one that did catch my fancy this year, so if nothing else I'll likely buy one there, presuming it's still available.
It is largely done with a few changes. Fabrics were chosen with the idea that they *will* be worn soaked in water. The heavy-duty clasps used on the finished product aren't quite to the design here, but that's fine -- this was just a concept, and these clasps look much better than would that karabiner-style. The only other significant change is that the loincloth attaches directly to the trousers.
I think the cape will need to be redone now that the first outdoor test-wear was performed a couple of weeks ago (laaaaaame weather around here for autumn -- where's the bluster?!) and some stretching of seams occurred. Of course the cape is extremely important to me, so I'm probably going to have to be very particular to get it just the way I want it.

Kuro: The idea is VERY interesting, a bit more formal and complex than my normal attire
I'd sure LOVE to see what you end up with!
Sean: not like i give a damn...
Kuro: Shut up. Just bcoz you're content with prancing around in a tshirt and jeans does not give you any grounds to judge our fashion standards
