The BLU Medic, who has been responsible for manipulating many people's DNA, experimented with her own, making this.. interesting body.
It combines elements from most of the genus, save for avians; the side would make it impossible for flight to be achieved without compromising the bone mass..
Basically, she is connected to this body, which is hers, but at the same time acts as a.. "secondary" body. She is connected to it via a sort of cerebral umbellical cord. She doesn't let anyone know that she can actually "get out" of this body though; if her cord were damaged or severed, she would be sent into cerebral shock, one that would incapacitate her for days, until she could attempt to grow another body.
The body itself has its own organs; It has to, to keep a circulatory system that requires that much power in check. But she serves as the brain of it all. The creatures bodily functions as well are maintained by her. If she is removed, the body dies. Much as a beheading would.
For this reason she won't reveal to anyone this crippling weakness.

"Well, I still need to be able to handle my... tools for what I do.."
