Fugue in E-moll ''The Cathedral'', BWV 533, by Johann Sebastian Bach
2 minutes 35 seconds
When it came time for me to learn some more music, my organ teacher picked this piece out for me. She knew I liked spooky-sounding music...she did a great job in selecting this one for me!
A fugue is a musical form where a theme starts out in one voice of the music, then the next voice starts out with the same theme, then the third (all in the hands) then finally the fourth (played with the feet). Similar to a round like ''Row Row Row Your Boat'' except that in a fugue a voice can start the theme in a different key. The first 16 notes of this piece are the theme which repeats.
As a summer job in college, I was the substitute organist for the church I recorded this piece in.
Performed on the pipe organ at Kirk O' The Valley Presbyterian Church, Reseda California. Recorded with a Stereo Walkman sitting on the music holder in the middle of the organ console.
Music composed in 1708 by Johann Sebastian Bach (public domain)
(P) 1982

Hard to remember...it was 25 years ago! :o
But from listening there's a 2' and possibly a 1 2/[sub]3[/sup]' stop, a soft 4', and several 8' stops on the manual. One of the manual stops was very ''breathy'' - possibly a vox humana or something like that.
The pedal had 8' and 16' stops.
This was a small organ that didn't have a lot of ranks of pipes...so therefore not many stops.
