Quick snap of the process of tape patterning this one, because I thought it was funny. :P
The only thing I had on hand was tie dyed duct tape I'd bought to make some tape wallets from, so that's what I used.

It's kind of like tie dye, in that it's a resist dyeing method, though batiking uses wax instead of string as a resist. Basically you drip melted wax on the fabric in lines and dots and such, dye it, do more wax, et cetera et cetera, then you get the wax out of the fabric.
