Yeah... Gifs use "null" pixels aka Transparent Pixels while PNGs Use an alpha layer overlay. You can actually get partial transparency. For anyone who doesnt know what an alpha layer is think of it this way: A gray-scale image over the top of your image where black is solid and White is transparent and grays can be anywhere in between. Old Browsers don't like them but they look sooooo good in any since IE 5
