Imagine if you will the Grim Reaper deciding to take human, or in this case pony, form to see what it's like to live as a physical being. One night while he was about to take an accomplished violinist on to the hereafter, he heard the male playing his instrument. The sound was so pure and so beautiful that it caused him to feel true human emotion for the first time in his existence. Because of this he found himself suddenly longing to be able to weep for the loss of every soul he carried away from earth, though it is something only those with a body can do. From this incident and what followed as he spoke to this pony at length he got an idea, and from this idea came the pony you now see before you.

Amphion is the physical form that the reaper chose, but he is not the reaper himself. He is more like a child formed in an adult body. He will never voluntarily hurt anyone, except to defend himself. He is not cruel or unkind, but he does have a strange kind of calm about him that stems from knowing with absolute certainty what will come after this life. It is not a secret he is permitted to share with the land of the living, but he does give comfort where he can.

Since he has only had this physical form for a short time he is still learning to control it. He has only a small fraction of the power he once wielded, and he can use only a small fraction of that. A physical body simply cannot handle any more. For now he is much like a foal in that he can at times accidentally use his gifts, but more often than not he either fails to do anything at all or something completely unintended occurs!

One thing that he has come to adore is playing the violin himself. Before the violinist moved on he gave the instrument to this caretaker, though it is only after his arrival here on the physical plane that Amphion is able to use it. As with most things he is still a beginner, but it is the only thing to which he is truly dedicated. He will play for anyone who will listen, but his tunes are limited to simple children's songs. The attempts at anything more complex tend to result in hooves going over ears. XD
