I like it. The pose and the lighting fit really well.

I especially like his little energy weapon. Kinda reminds me of Kuabara's power in Yu Yu Hakusho.

his is actually specifically made of blue fire, not just energy, but yeah, I forgot about kuabara's sword :3. Wasnt his orange or yellow though?

no its fine ^^ I've only seen the actual show awhile ago and dont remember seeing a color picture in the manga for awhile :/ I wasnt sure how to make it look more like fire and less like a generic 'energy' weapon though. Any thoughts? The fire has to be blue cause thats the character's power, but how can I make it more clear that its fire?

Well, the way I do it, is if I were to color energy, I'd put a moderate amount of bloom/shine and make sure that the center of the focus of the energy is the brightest. For fire, it tends to be the opposite. The brightness and main focus on how it shines is around the outer rim of the central point. Flame is darker towards the center, blah blah blah, stuff you already know, blah blah.

Anyway, shine towards the center for energy, shine around the outside for fire...not too much though. I suppose the trick is to try to balance the light for maximum effect.

Fire also dissapates when it flows away, perhaps add more of a blurred/transparant effect as the fire fades off the weapon?
