Ah, November - traditionally a time of staring out the window and wondering where the chuff the good weather went. Happily, some nice chaps and chapettes have come up with a solution to the November blues: they call it Movember.

Movember is a charity event aiming to raise awareness of mens' health issues, such as prostate and testicular cancer, and of course our terrible tendency to think we can just keep quiet about things and walk it off - an attitude that tends to kills us in undignified ways.


"On average men die five to six years younger than women. The suicide rate is four times higher for men than women and more than five men die prematurely each hour from potentially preventable illnesses."


Movember participants begin the month cleanly shaven and, as the days go by, attempt to cultivate, sculpt and nurture that most virile of masculine features: a moustache.
