This has been a very difficult picture for me to work on.
I was never as close to him as I wished I could be, yet he nevertheless had a very deep impact on my life, as he did with so many others.
But that impact hasn't ended. In the days and weeks since his transition, I've made many new connections, as well as renewed many connections that had grown stale. When news of his passing was announced, all the people that he's touched began coming together to comfort and support one another.
This is the legacy that he will leave here, he was always so connected and now that he's free from this world, he's still connected - still bringing people together.
I'm not happy with this picture, but I don't think there's anything I could create that would do justice to what I feel, or what I want to express.
There is no death, only a transition. That is what I wanted this to show.
EDIT: Apparently someone used this image as the cover to a tribute video to Athus. You can view it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCPp1m8fgzQ

Your words with this ring very true, and I know the same has echoed in my life in the past month and a half. Incredibly beautiful work with this DOPR...it feels so free. I'm glad to have mustered up the strength at last to look through these again. *smiles* Comforting, and inspirational.
I found this image on a YouTube video commemorating Athus. It consisted of this image and a nice remix of David Bowie's "Everyone Says Hi". They linked to your profile on the video, and so I figured I should drop in, find the image, and leave a line. They sound like they touched quite a bit of folk and left some real memories.
Now it looks like there's two people I can commemorate when I listen to that remix (:

Thank you very much! I likely would never have found this if you hadn't brought it to my attention.
It's a lovely remix, and all the more potent for also including Bowie (who I was a fan of). While I'd like to think I've moved on from the loss of Athus, there's still a part of me that will always miss him.

Oh you're welcome :)
And yeah. Moving on from losing others is difficult. I don't think we can ever fully "move on". I guess we can "move on" from always feeling sad, or mourning, or whatever...but we can't stop the feeling of missing or wanting to see someone again. But, at least they can know they're still loved :)
