I'm waiting on a shipment of markers to come in, so coloring this is on hold. But I thought I'd post the sketch in the meantime. I've beefed Uhai up, he's more lion-like now I think. I'm not very good at drawing cats, so this was much needed practice.
Storm clouds are in the background. And there's grass sprouting out behind him as he walks. I know... how very "Fern Gully" or something. ;)

I think its important to practice what you may not otherwise be good at. Versatility as an artist is important. I think you're on the right track with this and I know -exactly- how you feel about marker/art supply shipments. I can't wait to see how this looks finished. ^^

My Turn - Better than most I would dare to postulate. Considering that the first picture you did of him was a head shot I had figured that he would have been quite "beefy" as a rule.
This is the type of picture I love to detail and shade with my pencil set because it has a great looking base creation. Sometimes a picture like this would look just as good done in black and white as color if the right kind of attention is paid to it during the detailing process.
Kind of sucks that the markers are taking a while to arrive. I have to go 30 miles into the city to get half of my art supplies at a specialty store. Nobody here in town has them so I know what its like to wait till something comes in.
