Bah, I don't think I'm going to get this body shape down correctly until I take a picture of myself and trace it or something. There are artists out there who can take a bit of flab and make it look kinda manly and sexy, but when I try it just looks odd and kinda ugly x3 That, and I'm constantly fighting with my brain, which wants to make everything all slim and pretty.
This is actually really hard for me! Not because I have some issue with showing a more accurate body shape, I'm fine enough with it. Mostly it's just because I can't do a good job drawing it so it always looks off and kinda bleh. Though I suppose it doesn't help that I chose the least flattering angle possible for this sorta thing, but this is the angle I looked at myself in the mirror to get an idea so it seemed a good start.
I'll have to work on it some more, this still doesn't quite seem right. But for now enjoy a slightly dommier attempt at the not-quite-as-thin Ru. Bit of a quickie, mind the crappy facial features and general anatomy and such.

Maybe it's because it looks more like a roundish bump than really flab? *shrug* I am not the best at this kind of thing myself, but I would imagine if you made the flab longer heightwise it might look a little better and less of a bump and more into what it should look like. Again, though, I'm no expert. xD
It's making it appealing that I'm having trouble with. x3 I've seen plenty of other artists do it, and I don't actually even have all that much, so it shouldn't be too hard. But I've drawn it so rarely that I've got no concept of it at all, and even just drawing it correctly is giving me a hard time, much less making it look sexy. :P
Technically nothing. I just got a little tired of Ru and myself having very little in common. I'd like him to be a little inline with my real self, who is much less confident in social situations, a lot less well kept generally and in nearly as attractive or in good shape. x3
There's really no reason I -have- to do it, I just want to. Didn't seem right having a character based off me that wasn't at all like me.

Incoming rant, feel free to ignore it if you want~
I went through that too. Still not sure if I should make my char look like me or not. x~x I really hate my irl self though. I honestly think though it's I feel like I'm lieing to everyone else if they don't look like me but if you did that, I wouldn't really mind. I don't think you mind my char not looking like me, either. Just doesn't really matter to people. So like, personally I think I'm just overthinking things and should just make a character that I think reflects my personality, rather than my physical self. I don't wanna sound rude or pushy, but I don't think you need to make your character look like you so much as he needs to look like 'you'. I think that makes sense.
Yeah. Also fluffy belleh <3

It's not that I mind at all when other people do it, I understand it perfectly. There's no reason behind my doing this other than 'Cause I wanna'. x3 I'd just feel a bit more comfortable if the character that represents me is a little more true to form, that's all.
I like this a lot Ru! I think the only problem with the way you drew the stomach was that it setting to low. So you do not see the smaller hips then the thighs start. This just goes from bulge directly to thigh. None the less still a cute looking wolfy-cat thing overall.

For the record, I really hate comments like this. I've always thought of dominance as something to be shared, rather than forced. A picture like this is more on open invitation to those who are into it. Anyone who's not is welcome to go elsewhere, but the whole "nuh-uh I'ma do it to you instead' attitude people like to get on pictures like this is just kinda dumb. I'm not here to challenge anyone or prove I'm the more dommy dom among the doms. I have nothing to prove. I just like watching the subby people squirm.
I'm not saying this out of anger or anything, just as a guide. Normally I just ignore comments like this, but I like you so I figured I'd mention it to avoid annoying me in the future. x3

Well, fair play, I just said it because... you know what, I have no idea. Maybe I'm just so used to being pigeonholed and labelled as one particular type of person myself, I feel it my duty to carry that idea on and act the way that pleases others. I agree with you myself, but this website is so full of people who demand you act and talk a certain way... but then, why do I care about that? I haven't the faintest idea what I'm trying to say. I haven't the faintest idea why I said it in the first place. I'm having a crap day today and nothing's really making any sense. Looks like that manifests itself on FA in the shape of appalingly stereotypical comments, the type of which would normally set my cynicism meter at full capacity.
Apologies, Ru. :P

S'all good, no need to apologize, just something to keep in mind for next time. Like I said, most people I just ignore but you seemed like a pretty chill guy, the type who can take a bit of comment criticism without getting too personally offended, so I went for it. x3
It might seem a touch harsh, but if I didn't like you I wouldn't have said anything at all, so there's that I guess. :P

Honestly, I think it's the fur contours on this one. They almost give a vibe of a hole blown in the belly while everything else is awesome.
The overall feel though is very, VERY masculine and I see what you're going for. Even the flab gives a vibe of 'gonna pound you so hard you walk bow-legged for a week.' The arms especially though. Those are awesome arms.

Heh, quite true. I'm going to struggle with it for a little bit I suspect, but given some time I should be able to get there. :P If he was just all over bigger than it would probably be easier, but I'm actually fairly thin most places, I think. It's making most places look smallish but with a tummy sticking out, that combination seems to be throwing my brain off x3
Flab tends to look smooth but tends to sag when you bend over. Try standing with one hip lower than the other or bending to see how it is like a baggie 3/4 full of gelatin. Lay that on pretty and slim bodies, there might be something easier but I just draw what I see. I used to draw from the Baroque period, lots of fat and flab.
I like it. Unashamed and confident.
If I may make some constructive suggestions: Others have mentioned the tummy, and I agree; just push it up a bit and trim it a bit... And if you're looking for places to reuse the weight, go for love handles, just a touch on the neck, perhaps some extra thigh. If it starts looking too feminine, add a little more to the arms.
None of that is meant to say you're doing anything wrong; it's just some things to focus on if you're having trouble getting your hand to do what you want.

Except the tummy, the things I said aren't broken in any way I'd call wrong. Without a view into your mind I don't know what "right" is. They're just things to consciously consider and experiment with when you're trying to figure how to get the look you want. Or "constantly fighting with my brain", as you put it.
The 'skinnyfat' builds have always been particularly difficult to draw. Essentially, it is what happens when an ectomorph has a bit of chub. Fat distributes a bit around the body, and seems to collect in few very specific places; the stomach, the chest, the butt, and the thighs (occasionally the upper arms). It may help to add a bit of that to the chest. Probably not nearly enough for 'moobs', but certainly enough to give them a pleasant roundness.
Heheh. Yeah, I tend to know one body type (slim, athletic), and know it well. I really should branch out, a bit. I've been playing around with a few more muscly builds, but rarely delve into the chubbier arena.
