Thirteenth in a series of comparative image charts.
Hopefully here I've made some clearer comparisons. The top line are impalas, while the second line are a variety of gazelles. Obviously the third row are zebras.
The main point here is progressive morphology. Gazelles and impalas have similar features, but one can see with the impalas the elongated face, the longer nose, as well as the slight bend in the nose. The gazelles on the other hand, have shorter, stubbier noses, with little or no projecting tip compared to the impalas, as well as smaller faces.
The zebras are markedly different due to their thicker noses, with more flaring nasal passages, a wider jaw and fuller lips, as well as more prominent cheekbones.
