First part of my nostalgia project where I'll be digitizing and making available a bunch of old art from the past ten years.
Project squirrel was a five page transformation comic that was until recently available on my website (Furtopia stopped their hosting). This is the digitally remastered version (re-inked and lettered).
This ending might leave you a bit in the dark. (harharhar. I funny.) I don't think there's even a single question I answered. And there are a a lot of questions you can ask.
Funny thing is, as a concept this is by far one of my best worked out transformation universes, with nearly endless possibilities. And I guess that was part of the problem. There were just too many directions I could take a plot in. I couldn't properly decide on a single one so nothing developed beyond a few half-assed story fragments.
The basic gist of the whole thing is this:
Project squirrel is a research project by a conglomerate of companies and research institutions. The goal is to solve the world's energy problems by harnessing inter dimensional energy. This is done by creating a bridge between our reality and an alternate universe: the reality gate. This gate however is highly unstable and leaks a tremendous amount of radiation that molds nearly all organic matter in it's vicinity to whatever else organic matter is on the other end of the gate. To counter this effect a containment field is used.
This comic begins when an unscrupulous group of mercenaries, hired by a mysterious terrorist named 'The Bookkeeper' activate a device that neutralizes the containment field. Everyone in the facility suffers near instantaneous transformation. But Project Squirrel has contingency plans for everything. In case the reality gate operators are unable to perform a clean shutdown the person in the monitor room, a room specifically shielded to slow the effects of the radiation, can activate emergency procedures.
