Ok this is a different angle of my tail... this show you a good look at the base plate of the tail. the base plate is 2 layers of thick skirting leather riveted together, the spine of the tail is riveted to the base plate too. after i finished stuffing the tail i stretched the skin over the base plate and cut it to fit. then riveted the skin to the base plate.
you can also see that there is 2 heavy duty belt loops to hold the tail onto the belt.
i have to say i am very pleased with my tail for this being the first time i have ever attempted anything like this.

i have not sat down and put pencil to paper, and figured how much this cost me, but i will say if i do another one it would not be under a hundred dollars. the upholstery leather i used for the skin is about $5 a square foot alone. not counting the hardware, the other leather, the stuffing and time i put into it. it was not a cheep project... now that i think about it... i may have invested between 60 and 80 dollars worth of materials into that tail.
