I can't see you, mama
But I can hardly wait
To touch and to feel you, mama
Oh, I just can't keep away
First in a series of perhaps 3 or 4 pics I'll do based around the Genesis song 'mama'.....go with me on this.
Im not a Genesis fan. In fact, I'll mock them with the best of you, but I just happen to rather like this song. On the way back from London the other week, knackered and unable to do much else but sit and vegetate to music, I had it on repeat, and it manifested itself in my head as being the perfect song to describe Jester's relationship with his mother.
I know in reality its a song about a young lad's obsession with an older woman prostitute, but the lyrics can easily have many meanings (as demonstrated by the fact that many people originally thought it was an anti-abortion song!) and in my sleep deprived haze, it just seemed as if it couldn't be more perfect.
When I have such vivid images in my head, I feel I should make at least some attempt to get them out as a piece of art, if only for my own sake so I don't forget them over time.
But since the entire thing played in my head as almost a movie, I will have to draw them in stages. This will probably be the most boring one, and isn't meant to be an attempt to reinvent the wheel. Its functional, but pretty uninspired pose/background-wise, Im aware of this. But this is what I saw in my head so.......
Im actually glad the 'opener' is finished so I can get down to some interesting juicy stuff.
I don't feel it necessary to blatantly write down the relationship between Jester and his mother, as I dislike it when things that only need hinting at or are better kept subtle are splashed about as if everyone is too stupid to understand it unless its in black and white. I've stated it blatantly once, thats enough.
It might become clearer when Im done with all these.
Expect more of these. Eventually.

Gosh I love your stuff.
I'd love to read your rat characters' story if you ever do put it somewhere that we can read.
But I digress. I am just wondering how it is that they grew up in a lab environment (at least partly) but they know who their moms are? I know that labs can trace the ancestry of their poor tormented jillion-dollar ratties back to the rat Adam and Eve practically but I'm wondering how the rats in your story know who's who.

They remained with their mother for the first 5 weeks or so until full weaning and are then taken away. This is the only contact they have with their parents, but in the case of Jester, Warlock and Faith their mothers remained at the lab, just in seperate tanks, so they could still hear them and see them occasionally.
But for all intents and purposes, they don't have much to do with one another past weaning age.
