I've thought about doing this. How practical was it...?

Well, the hardest part was vision, but thats because i'm stubborn and use thicker material to cover my face so it cant be seen. If I had used a thinner more see-through material, it would have been entirely practical. The eye holes were placed perfectly, and the bottom of the pumpkin rested on my shoulders so it got rid of the strain. I was walking around town for over 45 minutes without any trouble. :)

Actually. I saw a kid I scared with a pumpkin head. He fell when I jumped out. And broke his head(the pumpkin).

I felt bad but I was being evil..I gave him a shit ton of candy though.

HAHA NO way dude! :D That poor kid. And i'm glad i'm not the only one then. ^^

I felt guilty! But the candy made him happy. xD I scared a lot of kids. Just by standing.

My boyfriend made one this year! He found a realistic foam pumpkin and carved it out... The kids loved it xD

So awesome.. I'm really glad to hear it's more common than I thought. May seem like a silly idea but quite honestly, I saw some amazing costumes, maybe 100 times better than mine, stopping to admire. It was nice. :)

It was really funny... The older kids were afraid of him, but the little(2-4 years) kids and adults just loved it xD

It was! It was made out of a hard foam, I think he picked it up at Hobby Lobby. Also, you'll probably have to use a drywall knife to cut it lol

Hahaha, the saddest part was, there weren't any little kids around where I was! :C
Although I will say it was a complete hit with adults. They all couldn't imagine it being real so I had several dozen strangers come up and knock on my head :P

I'd say the only technical flaw was the fact that I put black mesh/cloth inside as lining so I could see out but people couldn't see in. it was fine in the daytime, but once it got dark... I couldn't see ANYTHING. xD I ended up meeting a friend somewhere and I ended up walking by her three or four times because I couldn't see her face, hehe.
