Chapter 2 "Red"
The door exploded inward while the two officers rushed in. The only light was the faint red and blue LEDs coming from the police cruisers outside. Red pushed a small button on the side of his helmet and the room was flushed with an eerie green light. The two were alone.
"Clear," Jake spoke over his micro mic. He did a sweep of the room and located the stair well that lead up to the bank's lobby. "Red, stairs." he said as he pointed towards the stair well.
"Well, lets go get us some bad guys." Red responded. The pair moved in tandom up the narrow stairs until they arrived at the double doors that would take them to the lobby. "Jake, check the door, might be booby trapped."
"Thanks for the concern. You're buying coffee after were done here." Jake replied. He pulled a small snake like device from on of the pouches on his chest. He slide the camera under the door and opened the feed in his Head's Up Display.
The lobby was vacant, aside from the desks and computers. By the large spinning doors at the banks front, was a pile of police officers tied up and unconscious. They were fine just as long as who ever took the out didn't decide to come back to finish the job. Jake gave the "All Clear" signal to Red, and the two slowly entered the lobby.
The lights were off and the light coming from the outside cast shadows on all of the cubical spaces. Red darted behind cover, and Jake did the same. Once behind a desk, Red slowly peered out from behind his cover. The cubicles created a hallway down to the teller's area. Standing with her back to him, was one of the the gunmen. They were to have individual call signs. She would be Loki.
From what Red could tell, Loki 1 was about 5' 10", or 5' 11" and in her early thirties. She was female, and as far as the back of her head said, she was a Golden Reviver. In her hands was a large machine gun, most likely a military LMG (Light Machine Gun). In he pack however, was a long cylinder. Red could only guess. She had long brown hair pulled up into a bun. She had her hand up to her ear and was speaking. Tapping his helmet, Red turned on his amplifier to listen in to what she was saying.
"...no no, there's no one here, well no one conscience any way." Loki 1 said into her ear piece. Red picked up a second voice, most likely the other person Loki was talking to.
"Well the rain's screwing with my sensors. Thermal and ESV (Electrical Sense Vision) are down. You should go let the captain know." the second voice responded. Again the voice was female, maybe 26, 27 years old, and had the twinge of an L.A. resident. This meant the group must be international.
"Fuck, he's gonna be pissed. I'll check in, in ten." Loki removed her had from her ear and started to walk towards the back of the bank. Seeing an opportunity, Red leaned out from cover and lined up a shot.
The bullets whizzed out of the barrel with nothing more than the silent whisper of death. Three shots flew towards the head of Loki. Before impact, a blue corona of energy burst from Loki's back, vaporizing the three shots. She stumbled forward and spun around to face Red. She saw him, and he saw her. Only, she was faster. She pulled the trigger on her LMG, while simultaneously yelling at teh top of her lungs. "Intruders! We have hostiles!"
Red bolted back behind cover before the rounds tor him to pieces. The bullets exploded into a white foam on the floor. Riot Suppression Rounds. 'Why the hell are they using RSR's?' Red thought to him self. He looked back out to where Loki had once been, nothing but empty space. Red tore out from his cover and started sprinting towards the back.
"She's headed for the stairs Jake! Where the hell are you?" Red yelled over his com.
"I'm already their." Jake replied.
The two arrived at the bottom of the stair well to the roof at the same time. They exchanged a glance, which was just a blank stare from their helmets, and started running up the flights. The third floor door to the roof looked broken into. The frame was bent and a hinge was laying on the floor. The two stacked up on the destroyed door and gave and gave each other a look.
"The rain's gonna shut down optics. Might as well just leave our helmets at the door." Jake said to Red.
"OK. Standard Flash and clear. On three. 1... 2... 3!" Red removed his helmet with one hand while throwing a flash bang with the other. It flew through the rain and bounced a few times before exploding with a blinding flash, and defining bang. The pair rushed onto the roof and scanned. Red was in front of Jake and was the first to see Loki, along with a male, or Juno. Red yelled at the two. "Freeze! Put your weapons on the ground and your hands in the air!"
Red heard a muffled shout from behind him, and turned to see a German Shepperd tackling him. Red slide on the slick roof and felt a sudden weightlessness. The ground was no longer beneath him. He flexed his hand, grabbing on to a pipe for dear life. He was dangling of the side of a building.
