he sky she noted the position of the sun and veered off away from the group. scanning the area for any signs of food. After a while she found a decent sized elk and swooped down towards it. the smoke from her wings wavering behind her as she descended on her prey. moments later a startled and pained cry could be heard from the elk as she struck. being not far from where the dragonlings were the cry would have been easy to hear as well as the pained roar she let out when it bucked back and nicked her with it's antlers. after a brief struggle between the two the dragoness stood above the fallen elk and began to flap her wings as she started lifting it into the air. it's size making her travel slow as she headed back towards where the dragonlings were*
She looked up, watching as Red and Teal as they both tried to wake up purple, but it was no use. She was in her deep sleep... again. "Shes not getting up, is she?" she hissed, irked, and went over to them, her eyes went skyward in apprehension, watching the dark blue fly off. By the time she had picked her purple up by the neck, and dragged her from view, she heard the elks cry. After helping his green sister get Purple under cover, he starts pacing nervously. It had been some time since they were left alone, and this was the first major threat they've encountered without the safety and protection of their mother. They've managed to fend off many threats, but another older dragon, and their most powerful member of the group in dreamland? Things weren't looking good for the four! He peeks out from underneath their cover now and then to scan the skies, thankfully finding them empty. Perhaps the dragon got bored, and went to find something else to do?
However, upon hearing the cry of the elk and the roar not too far off from them, he charges out, spitting bits of flame and spreading his wings in an aggressive manner, hoping to scare off whatever it was that was threatening them, even if it was bigger than he might be. Teal did his best to keep a look out for the dark blue dragon that was still around. He then decided to try and make them a small cave as Red dashed to try and scare the dragon away. He ran near his sisters and began to use his ice breath and kicked it hoping to freeze the rock to make it brittle enough to just shatter.
"I hope this works." he said as he started on his task. Of course, as all of this was happening, a thought came to mind, and she had to wonder. Was the blue such a threat? "Wait. She wasn't that big. Do you think she could be much of a threat?" She asked, looking to her siblings, and stepping a little away from the shelter, stretching her head out to look into the distance to see if she could see anything of the blue dragoness. "I don't know, but I'm sure not going to let whoever it is get a chance to harm us!" Red answers, perhaps a bit too heatedly. He'd always been a little hot-headed, even for a fire dragon. It had served them well however, at the cost of a few scars. He wore them proudly though, knowing that he had kept his little family safe for as long as they have been. He continues to scan the area, still in aggressive mode, until satisfied that whatever was out there wasn't getting any closer. He still payed close attention to his surroundings, never letting his guard down, but at least he wasn't about to burn the whole area down anymore.
*the young dragoness groans a bit as she continued to make her way towards where the dragonlings were. her catch far bigger than what she usually hunted for herself. it's weight causing her to need to fly at low altitude. As she comes a bit closer she sees the group running into a small cave. fatigue begins to show on her maw as she draws closer. just before she gets ready to land and drag the elk the rest of the way she sees the red dragonling rear up and spit fire along the ground in a defensive manner. using the majority of her strength she gives a few flaps and draws as close as she could before landing with an ungraceful thud as the elk drags a bit. she pulls the elk closer and lays it down a few meters from the red dragonling. just outside the reach of his fire* th..this is.. for you four.. *she says breathing a bit heavily. her heavy breathing sounding almost like low growling though it was unintentional*
His eyes narrow, and he hisses threateningly at the dragon that nearly scared him out of his scales at her sudden appearance. He's not entirely sure what she's here for, or why she's dragging around an elk, but her words manage to penetrate his thick skull. He backs down, folding his wings to his sides, but continues to eye her while keeping his distance and assessing the situation. This was not something he was prepared for and wasn't entirely sure how he should react. It had been a long time since anyone had provided for them other than each other, so he wasn't quite ready to trust this sudden free food in front of them!
The rare dragon yawned, jaws pulling wide as large outstretched wings carried him effortlessly on the thermals rising from the valleys below. His muscles ached against the chill of the day, but in a way it refreshed his spirit and soothed his mind. Sunlight shimmered across pale cream scales and shown brightly on the gold armor plating that ran the length of his spine and belly. Blue eyes narrowed against the light, scanning the horizon. Body tilted, carrying him off towards the largest peaks in a wide, looming arch. Nostrils flared, puffing thick white steam into the icy air. A strange scent on the breeze caused his nose to twitch curiously. Something was near.. or more like a group of.. something. Eyes narrowed against the bright daylight, neck craning as his wings shifted, pulling back clawing the air to slow his glide while peering at the steep slopes below. Not but a shadow caught his eye, a seemingly small object, lost in the vastness of the landscape, barely moving from his standpoint, yet he could tell from the shape that it was another of his species. A dark colored creature that seemed to be carrying something along with it. A closer look would prove much more useful.
As sleek as a forest cat, his flight shifted, carrying him slowly downwards towards the valley below.
