In literature, the pastoral is the idealized portrayal of country life; it can also refer to sheparding cows or sheep.

This is my ideal sound; Calm, relaxing, and soothing... and yet, strong, full of power and spiritual resonance.... the joining perhaps of shire and ram....

It is strong enough that I could not stop myself from crying as I listened to it, as it carries for me a release of emotions so long pent up inside. My father always told me that the world was never truly black and white; but it's so easy to find myself looking for those familiar polarities in everything, and that's what this album ended up being about... songs for friends, and songs made at my lowest, and my highest days.
