Part one of the Betrayal trilogy, the second of which is I Fear I'm Losing You, and which ends with I Missed You. The... well, I can't say "studio" version, but the probably-final version of the song. This is one take, so it's likely rough in spots, but I'm generally pleased with it. By the way... what kind of music is this? I lean toward calling it Gothic, but I'm not really sure.
Album: Mindless Conformity For Fun And Profit!
Track: 5
Lyrics (which I don't sing):
I see shadows and shades
(Though my eyes are empty),
Hiding in your embrace,
With daggers to carve me.
They call you a monster,
And not without reason;
When you start a frenzy,
It's like open season.
Wouldn't know a kindness—
Think it a beast turned loose—
You'd cut it wide open
And then tie it a noose.
A wretched, wrecked trickster,
With eyes ever shifting,
The type to tear down sails,
'Cause you prefer drifting.
Your kisses like acid,
They burn all the way down;
You're a knife in the back,
The thorns of worthless crowns.
So paint me up a smile,
With those blunted canines
That could not hurt a soul,
Unless, by chance, it's mine.
And sharpen those daggers,
Let them gleam like your eyes:
Because this night has changed,
And with the moon, so shift I.
