It varies so much.

Basic Hard round brush
opacity ranges from 25-90%
flow is usually around 40%
Brush has transfer on and set opacity to pen pressure.

But all those change depending on wether I am doing shading, lines, ect...

yea you see just with that little bit right there helped i need some beter brushes and im afraid to try and edit any thing in fear id get it compleatly F-ed up and have to re download sai XD

Ohhh that's a nice tutorial!! May I ask how you make the lines inside the eyes? I've tried it several ways but I always fail in the estetics... and end up drawing my dragons with anime-like eyes (except for the last one in which I tried something different: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6723803)

I know this tutorial is 14 years old, but I had a question. In the first stage are the colours a duller version of the dragon's regular colours and the highlights are like the real colour or are the flats/stage 1 like if you colour picked off of a character's reference? I'm trying to understand how to shade and highlight better, and I think that might be what's been throwing me off. This looks gorgeous. I really want to try this tutorial out. I hope that made sense and didn't sound too dumb.
