manufactures like Stanley did that by putting three layers of piano wire around the diameter of the boiler which allowed them to use thinner boiler walls. the wires added "elasticity" to it, also allowing for higher pressures, too.

Yes - some piano wire has a tensile strength of over 200,000 PSI. Toward the end of the steam era, the engineering was very sophisticated.

4 drum brakes? how innovative! there have been a time when people thought braked front wheels would make the ride insecure and all. :) granted, back when the vehicles weren't as swift, so a blocking rear axle didn't cause that many broblems... I guess.
