Drawn in the dark weeks earlier in the month where it seemed I could not find a job, and the bills kept piling up. The biggest concern I had was in finding the money to take a trip into The City in order to visit my friend who had come all the way from New York. Thank goodness my brother loaned me the money for the BART trip, and a little extra. Everything worked out okay, but I still feel my future is uncertain unless I get a job of some sort soon.
Bay Area Citizens, please forgive my setting the landmark buildings in the wrong places. I have since returned to the point where I can see the City from the hills, and sketched the spires in their proper places for future reference.
Addendum, May 11, 2018. Changed title because now I believe no one should ever consider themselves "Useless."

There is also a tremendous shortage of workers in the North Dakota Bakkan oil fields where they are recovering huge amounts of oil by fracking low permeability shale. I think that you would love the giant equipment! Rows of twelve foot tall 5,000 HP reciprocating pumps driven by huge 16 cylinder turbodiesel engines. Plenty of opportunity to start as an apprentice and work your way up. Cold winters but great pay and fringe benefits.

Many major Nevada open pit gold mines are 30 or more miles away from the nearest big three phase transmission line, and, in addition to the expense of a line extension, getting the right of way from the BLM or USFS could easily take a decade. In any case, haul trucks, unlike big shovels, can't be hooked up to a huge extension cord.
Yes, there is a railroad in Ely Nevada that was originally built for the copper mine at McGill. They still have operating steam locomotives for railroad buffs to enjoy, and even have a hands on course in steam locomotive operation!

I finally graduated from college, and now I can't get a job anywhere. I spent the last month going back and forth with one company, only for their HR department to decide to freeze the open position until the first of the year... ~_~
Now I'm looking at something like retail sales or fast food, in order to be able to make rent and keep the lights on...

I would suggest looking into Temp Agencies as well as the Fast Food and retail establishments. Look into hotels and hospitals too, as one rule of getting through any economy is to consider that people need to eat, sleep, need health care and lodging. The Temp agencies are also good places to make connections to other, better paying assignments, or at least give a person a chance to broaden their fields. That's how I've been surviving for the past eight years.
I know how you feel Foxie I have tried to get a job since my mom died in 2009 off and on Don't seem to be able to keep one for more then a few months won't swallow someones shit to save my life... Sigh maybe I am too much of a Snob or I'm not Employable..... so I started Painting again.... Keep at it Foxie you'll get there in the end
