D. Dan is just as good in hand to hand combat as he is with swords. In this scene a rival knight from a different city and kingdom is battling D. Dan in arena combat. ^\/^.
The battle is meant to be a hand to hand type, but the other knight decided to be ignoble and slip a short clawed weapon in his glove.
He attempts to attack D. Dan with said weapon with a forward power strike. D. Dan sees the weapon in time and responds by dodging, parrying, grabbing his opponent's forearm with a tight grip.
After which he swiftly uppercuts his opponent under his arm as shown and strikes the opponent's jaw, shattering where D. Dan's fist impacted. A surprise fit for such an opponent. LOL. ^\/^.
As a note, the armor D. Dan is currently wearing is a type used in arena combat with extra padding and shoulder armor. ^\/^.
