So this is rilllllly old art - April 1982...Just before or after first Animation design gig with Ruby-Spears, but still new - just finished this version a few minutes ago - she was originally some sort of elf-halfling-? - started turning her feline a few days ago...alternate universes....also digi painted over a couple thousand ink lines, and gave her a dress (don't worry, nekkid version tomorrow for those who prefer that...She was originally nude, not pandering, just making a version for all here...) What's old is new again...
Bits of VaughnBode, Micheal Kaluta, Roger Dean, and Frank Frazetta influence - homage...
Crow-quill pens and India Ink on rough art paper
Dr.Martin's clear water colors and Prismacolor pencils
approx 11 1/2 x 9 (?)
Digi mods done in PaintshopPro7 and PainterX

Ancient teen art - got ten maybe twenty years on you - ...which makes me about 1/20th the age of the Rolling Stones?.... not sure...everything started to fade together after the sabertooth lions went on that UFO to Venus...gotta go see that Casino one of these days...About the time Nirvana came over on the Mayflower to shoot Nixon..... ;>
Thanks! ^_^
It's been almost three years ago that i made the dress (was going to post it on dA, never got around to it) - When i opened the file again a few days ago to re-work her into anthro form i was surprised to find so many layers - Turned out it was just the original, new eyelashes, a little shadows - and nine layers for the dress alone! i guess i wuz havin too much fun wiff it...

i remember being rather nervous about putting in the orange dawning sunlight (did with prismacolor pencil after the watercolour was dry) - thinking "ohcrapohcrapohcrap this is going to ruin it what am i doing stop now too late...." Seemed to wok though...but it didn't scan at all well, so reworked it digitally....also, overall, i think the original was a little more turquoise...

i knew/suspected a little about the poor light-fastness of Dr.Martins and watercolour markers back then, so most of these colour pieces would go into dark opaque portfolio folders. i and friends etc would glance through stuff maybe a few times per year. So, old as this is, it's probably only seen thirty hours or so of light since it was finished.
Anything on the wall is doomed unless protected by UV glass. i had this pic "Autumn" on the wall for almost twenty years, framed with regular glass, and it faded to near grey...i restored it digitally (link below) but i didn't put it back up lest it fade even more.... :(
Even some coloured pencils are of poor durability.
Most, not all, oils and acrylics are much better for light-fastness.

So if anyone has watercolour art they want to keep shiny - put it where the sun don't....errr....uhm ......uhm, i...uh... think i hear the phone, - gotta go - - -
