With My Visa
My brain started coming up with this a few mornings ago as I was getting out of bed, and the idea wouldn't leave me alone until I did it. These are lyrics to to be sung to the tune of 'At the Gala' from the season 1 finale of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, but with a rather more personal twist.
Since my doctoral dissertation is nearly done and I have a defense date set, I'm now advancing with my plans to apply for a UK visa as it is my intention to move there permanently and share my life with certain special people. I'll be submitting the application within the next couple weeks, and these lyrics, while mostly a silly little thing I did to have a laugh, capture much of the excitement and hope I'm feeling toward what's to come in my life. The emotions with which the original song is sung in the show feel quite appropriate.
I will of course be hoping for everything to proceed smoothly. I'm braced for the possibility of delays or snags, but I'm preparing the best I can and am confident it'll all work out in the end. I've been working toward this for six years, give or take. Whatever happens now, I'm nearly there.
