~the day had been one the longest Daryl had ever lived through. It had woke up late and had time docked off from both of his day jobs. AT his night jobs, all of the patrons kepp spilling their drink and flirting with him the entire shift.
"What a great way to celebrate my birthday." He said as he walked into his apartment. "No gifts, no cards, didn't even see Darrius and-" He stops short as he sees a faint light in the kitchen. He slows walk into the room and sees a single cupcake sitting on the dining table. Behind, there sat a card with "for my special guy" written on the front. Tears started to roll down his face as he picked up the tiny pastry, which had a simgle flickering candle in the middle of the frosting. He open the card, and it read.
"Dear Daryl, I know this can hardly apologize for missing your birthday, and as soon as I'm back from the tournament, I will throw the biggest party you have ever seen. Till then, I hope this little cake can hold you over.

My next entry for  phereandsagome's contest. This round's them was to portray an emotion using only monochromes. I got hope paired with grey. I had this kind of idea right from the begining I'm really glad with the result.
