Many theories abound on how the old Professor died. All anyone knows is that he went a bit mad in his late years (something to do with "loss of tenure"), and locked himself up in his family's castle without so much as a "Farewell cold, cruel world!" Though some still swear he did toss out an obscene gesture before the front gate slammed shut.
Many days and nights following were filled with the most terrifying sounds. But more terrifying was the day they stopped. Curious, the local townsfolk volunteered a few of their bravest and hardiest men to investigate. When they managed to disarm the defenses, and pry open the servant's gate, the survivors of the group were overwhelmed by a swarm of hybrid creatures. They then set about on the unwitting villagers, causing the swiftest exodus on foot on record. Also the bloodiest.
The stories blur things from there, but my expedition to the old ruins managed to salvage some of the Professors research notes. Considering the fox/snake hybrid, or Fake was the last, incomplete entry, I believe this puts to rest all those dubious rumors of his demise.
A strange mutation occurs in the species. Known as the Jeweled Fake, a phenomenon that is as rare as it is beautiful and puzzling, it has been witnessed only a handful of times within their carved-out niche in the local ecosystem. There is nothing in the Professor's notes to explain such a mutation, and no amount of experimentation nor careful autopsy has yielded answers. Even the Mad Geneticist Hasen Phefpher has sworn there is no discernible difference between a normal Fake and its glittering cousin. Perhaps some mysteries are beyond even Mad Science.
'Tis a shame though. Their sparkling scales only make them a more valuable prize on the Black Market. I shall endeavor to make sure this one is preserved, if only in photographic record.

This is for a school project I had to do. Technically, it's late, but I get to resubmit it tomorrow. Pretty fun, but damn if it wasn't frustrating at times! All those damn scales! >.< Never again. I swear.
EDIT: Sadly, this specimen proved unruly and uncooperative, and had to be disposed of. There was a great deal of fire involved. The singular assistant who cried was scheduled for mandatory Insensitivity Training.

Thanks! Though I think the muzzle could use some work. No way to fix it now, not without tearing things off.
And even with class being canceled today, and thus the due date pushed back... I ain't gotta bother now. *thuds* I need a breather from my Fall Breather! >.< Stupid project.
