Took a walk around here some days ago, we're having a very hot autumn. These particular elements, similar to columns, were used in the past to sustain the vineyards branches... some still use them.

I guess so, you can find those things everywhere in the modern city amongst new buildings and roads. This region (Piedmont) is amongst the biggest wine producer and exporter in Europe and vineyards are definitely very, very ancient. This one in particular, I guess is Erbaluce, that is very typical from around here...
