This is not gift art so much as a tribute - to the work of amiralaesir whose beautiful watercolor illustrations always manage to move me.
It seems the Amiral is suffering his own case of artist fatigue. The poor fellow has burnt himself out while working on yet more of his detailed masterpieces. While I realize that he intends to be away for a spell, I've drawn his beautiful blue-haired vixen Kitsune Bothan in anticipation of his comeback.
Bothan is such a charming character. The way amiralaesir draws her shows so much love for her elegance and innocence that it was a joy to try my own hand at rendering her. Here she awaits the return of her lover - perhaps preparing to spend a lonely evening in her own company.
Creating this piece reminded me why I do so many Photoshopped backgrounds these days. Ie. Marker death! Several of my already failing Copics perished while working on this job, but I'm proud to say that this is a completely traditional media piece. No added highlights or fancy bits! So while it might not look as jazzy as some of my other stuff, it was made with genuine artistic elbowgrease (picture Fio frothing at the mouth while trying to squeeze out the last skerrigs of ink left in her "shadow pink" marker). -_-'
Best wishes to the Amiral - wherever he may be.

Hey Fio, this sure lives up to all your fancy stuffs, more than that actually. I hardly notice any of your copics failing you, if you hadn't told me I'd have thought it's a little washed out on purpose.
I'll just say this, it's a wonderful piece and I'm sure he'll be happy 'bout it ^^ the character comes over beautifully...she just looks a little...drunk maybe :3 maybe it's just the bottle

She looks rather...dispassionate. Almost like she's waiting for her lover and realizing that he's not coming back tonight, yet again. She doesn't seem sad or angry about this, as though she has used up those emotions long ago. Personally, I think that this is more heart-breaking than if she were crying.
Or perhaps, now dispassionate and surrounding by the hazy fog of sleepiness, is ready to go to bed when her lover quietly walks in through the door, and this is the moment where she sees that someone is there, but hasn't quite recognized that it is the person that she has been waiting for all this time.
Quite an unexpected expression, I must say, but still a pleasure to see and puzzle out. I hope that tbhis piece inspires Amiral Aesir or at the very least gives him some peace of mind.
