Haha, I know this isn't furry whatsoever, but here's the aluminum rack I built with my father last weekend.
Aluminum square tubing, steel angle stock for the brace (coated with black truck bed coating), and a TON of bolts, most of which are held in with loctite. Rubber leg tips on the end of the aluminum will minimize scratching to myself and the things I carry. The bit at the bottom is meant to space my soft saddlebags away from the wheel and take their weight off of the shocks, so I will hopefully have fewer issues with my bike attempting to eat the bags via abrasion. Sometimes duct tape just isn't enough. :)
...I got a little bit too enthusiastic with tightening down one of the bolts, haha.
This thing is SOLID. I can't wiggle it without moving the whole bike with it. As it should be.

Thanks :)
The parts alone on this thing added up to $100 or so, but they don't make too many nice solid racks for the Honda Rebel, as it's a pretty small bike. Most of what I found were luggage racks, where you have to buy the specific luggage that fits it (like a trunk). I didn't need the passenger seat - no way would I take people anywhere on this tiny bike haha, so this is a good solution for now. I may modify it further if/when I acquire hard bags for it. It would be nice to move the taillight further back and have more space.

Awesome! Keep me posted! Maybe we could meet up at some point. :)
Next summer I would like to learn to hangglide I think. Among other things.
By ultralight I assume you mean aircraft? What is the cargo capacity of one of those? I always assumed it was a day use only craft for the most part due to the lack of gear one can bring...
