...these are unflattering pictures of me at work catching Great Horned Owls in the flight cage in preparation for their release.
We were catching 7 our of 18 that day. One of the volunteers wanted to take pictures so we let him. He got 4 of me.
Yea, there ya go in all my dirty hippie glory.
They are not all the same owl.
The owl on the bottom left totally has his talon wedged directly into my finger in that photo, my boss had to pry it off. Left a nice puncture wound.
I'll scrap this probably later.

They were all very angry.
Steps to catching 7 out of 18 Owls in a flight cage.
4 people, 2 very long poles and 2 nets.
Divide and conquer.
People with sticks scare birds, make em fly a lot.
People with nets stand around until bird makes a mistake and lands on ground, they then quickly run over and throw net on bird.
Remove flailing wild bird from net. Check leg for band color. If it's needed stick it in box and put on right side of cage.
If it's not needed stick in box and put on left side of cage.
After you got all the owls you were supposed to get you open the boxes for the owls who weren't needed and let them out.
Needed owls are put in a smaller cage so on release day one person can just walk in and net them quickly.
