While attempting research for this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6649275 I found a lot of other cartoon/anthro-art unit insignia from the WW2 era. One that caught my eye was this one, created for the YAAF aircraft gunnery school, by Disney in 1942 or '43. Being of Coyote disposition, I could not resist it! This is one of the more detailed examples of the art form. I just love it that the coyote is wielding a .50 cal. Ma Deuce!
Guess ya might call this Yaaf-y art, hmmm?

Heh! Derned iffn it ain't Coyotes Lament from Disney! I remember it, and the memory had only briefly faded when I found it posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnSCOcwgjKs
Somehow though, this guy was some 2 decades before the Disney show of 61.
Me, tho, I still clueless! ;)

The design is different between this insignia and the Disney cartoon.
Coyote's Lament was a collection of Pluto shorts that featured Bent-tail Coyote and Bent-tail Jr. from the 40s including the 1945 short Legend of Coyote Rock, with new, narrative animation (and a great memorable song from the Sons of the Pioneers) aired in 1961. So, Bent-tail Jr & Sr date back to the 40s, but their design is different than the insignia.
Awesome insignia tho!
