I had some very 'free' assignments in one of my classes last semester so one image I chose to draw was the fabulous Helicoprion.
Imagine a giant swirl of teeth, a creature from your wildest nightmares, was actually once alive and thriving!
The fun part of this project for me was the lack of good references I had, so I took qualities from a Mako to fill in where details of the Helicoprion were fuzzy from one artists view to another.
I tried to make it look like a field study.
Prismacolor marker, pencil, lots of coffee, dirt, plant material, and gravel on watercolor
