"How about you just drug me and pull my chute for me?" Catherine asked, cringing as the shuttle's rear door opened, the wind howling as the small vessel soared along the upper atmosphere. Catherine wondered if Aries had some kind of genetic enhancement to resist the cold since she wore the same outfit she had been, whereas Catherine herself was clad head to toe in an armored bodyglove.
"Don't be a coward!" Aries yelled over the roar of the wind. "You have to pull your own chute and you can't if you're not aware and alert."
"I'm not a coward! Would you get surgery without anesthesia?" Catherine asked, checking her drop chute for the umpteenth time.
Aries smirked. "Four times, and not unless you count a stiff bottle of whiskey as anesthesia." She says. "Every try removing a bullet from your own leg?"
Catherine winced. "No... Not ever."
"Trust me, leaping out of a plane... err... shuttle... isn't that bad." The blue furred wolfess said. "It's actually damned fun!"
Catherine shook her head. "You're crazy, you know that?"
"Guilty as charged." Aries replied.
"We're approaching the drop zone! Jump within the next thirty seconds!" Shouted the pilot. There was another duo of mercs in the shuttle who would be taken to another drop zone and a different mission intended to supplement her and Catherine's.
The other wolf looked out the opening, hugging her rifle to her chest. Only her eyes were visible through her helmet, but they were clenched shut.
Aries knew she didn't have time for pep-talk... She leaned down and scooped Catherine up. The rifle-toting canine began to squirm.
"Wh-What're you DOING?!" She shrieked.
"If you're gonna learn to swim, you gotta jump in the water!" Aries said with a mad smile on her face, then dove out of the shuttle with her companion, the two of them plummeting towards the ground far below, one wearing an expression of abject terror, the other grinning wildly with a crazed glimmer in her eye while the shuttle continued on, leaving nothing but a few miles of sky between them and the plummeting pair of women and the ground...
