From Scribble's point of view, if it were left up to him Scrabble would never do anything but sit around and read. Whether or not it's true, this attitude prompts her to drag him, sometimes bodily, along with her in her neverending quest for action.

Beaches score big points for Scribble. True, the violence level is grievously low, but fitting her ridiculous body into a skimpy bikini is an exercise in gratuitousness that she can really appreciate.
