and Gem were playing in the woods one day, searching for pretty looking leaves and sticks to do some arts and crafts with when they got back home. Gem saw a particularly interesting leaf and it was only when her paw touched it and it hopped away from her, that she realised it wasn't a leave and she jumped back squealing loudly in shock. Kalida almost jumped out of her fur in fright at the sudden abrupt noise from the usually quiet shy baby squirrel."Whats wrong?" She asked, noticing Gems petrifed expression, as Gem extended a shaky paw and pointed at the thing she had almost picked up.
"It'sa....leaf monsta" Gem squeaked, scrunching up her eyes tight.
Kalida's deep red eyes followed Gems pointed paw and looked down at the green bug eyed creature and grinned. it didn't look very scary, if anything it looked more scared of the two children towering above it. Quickly she scrambled over to a nearby bush and picked up a stick.
"Gem, its a froggy!" Kalida grinned, having seen frogs in picture books her parents had read her, she knew what one looked like, as she poked the frog which hopped a couple of paces in annoyance at being poked.
Gem stopped looking so scared once Kalida had given it a name, the fact that Kalida didn't seem to be scared herself made Gem feel braver.
"....Froggie?" She asked.
Kalida nodded and poked the frog again which leapt away from the inquisitive attack. The hopping frog made Kalida giggle, which in turn made Gem giggle and soon the two children were giggling happily together watching as the frog hopped away.

i'm actually using this picture to do a second version and practice making proper looking fur, but its taking a while so i uploaded this version of it first. I thought what better way to practice improving techniques than on someone who inspires me to do so.
I actually have a raincoat like the one Gem is wearing, and it is supposed to look like a ladybug, the hood actually has eyes and antenna too but I wanted to have Gems hair and ears showing (her ears are half of the way I show her expressions so taking out her ears by covering them with a hood would half her impact.
I'm really glad yoo like it. I tried super hard on this, and it was only after I was almost finished that I suddenly thought to myself....*uh oh I didnt check to see if Kalida was actually scared of frogs, cause some people are scared of them and I was then paicking i'd made your character do something she wouldnt normally have done, so im glad that wasnt the case.
