Nestly: This is my original species, called the ZYMP.
Read more if you're interested, otherwise, feel free to skip. xD
[ Zymps are armless, but make up for it with their telepathic tails, emitted from the special organs located in their rumps. There are three colored spots that can be seen glowing when they use their special 'limbs'.
The bottoms of their feet have a suction like surface to help them climb and stand strong.
They can come in a variety of different colors, sizes, markings, and 'fluffiness'.
Each has its own personality of course, but for the most part, they are intelligent, yet playful and pretty curious.
As they grow older they become a lot more careful and cautious.
History: First found in tropical areas with large, winding trees. No one knew how they were found atop the high branches since they acquired no arms to climb with.
Until later when they were spotted using strange, long, transparent limbs to hoist themselves around and build with them.
They were often captured, whole villages at a time, and used to carry supplies from town to town. The Zymps quickly figured out how to pick locks and escape with their amazing psychic limbs. It was believed at one point that they could somewhat connect to the spiritual world, since they could communicate with each other without needing to talk, even from a good distance away.
Often groups of enslaved Zymp would formulate plans together to escape, without anyone else knowing.
A terrible collar was invented, decades later, that was locked onto a zymp's neck and suppressed its telepathic powers.
No longer able to communicate with each other, and unable to use their vital limbs, these Zymp became broken and practically gave up. Slaved Zymps had such broken spirits, that even their young became unable to use their limbs.
The "domesticated" Zymp started dying at early ages, and keeping them "collared", soon became illegal, due to the decrease of their health and breeding.
Such intelligent creatures finally started to become respected, rather than used. Especially once they were able to learn how to speak with detailed words.
(Wild, uncultivated Zymps speak with each other through their minds, only vocalizing sounds of stress, happiness, or simple phrases)
About the Breed: Zymps are born incredibly unable to fend for themselves. They can't even stand up straight until at least 3 months of age. It takes about a year for them to really use their telepathic abilities.
The females usually have fluffier rumps to warm their newborn babies while they're hairless. It's one of the only big differences in gender.
As they grow, the longer they can extend their telepathic limbs.
About Cymbol: This guy here is named Cymbol! He's a happy-go-lucky dude, just wanting to have a good time and go on adventures. He's never in the same place twice. ]
The species is based on a creature I was trying to make for the pet site Subeta, when I worked there.
They didn't use it, so their loss, it's mine now! So I decided to revamp it and create stats on them!

Oh! How cute!! I love armless critters like this and the story you made for it is kick ass. I kind of like your old design better because this one kinda makes it look like he used to have arms and then lost em...ya dig? On a purely anatomical note, if you're going with the current design here it would make more sense for it to have a long tail (or a couple of those long telepathic tails going backwards) to balance out the front end of him so he could walk properly...or perhaps larger legs to hold him up....which is why I like your first design a little better because it makes more sense that this creature is stout and proportional. n_n Just some food for thought! Hope you don't take offence...I just love strong character designs and this one is great. lol
Nestly: Wow thanks so much for the input! ;-; I really appreciate it!
Yeah, I guess I was trying to slim them down in order to make it possible to make them anthro later. XD That's suppose to be why they have suction, grippy things on the bottoms of their feet, but I will play more around with the anatomy and see if I can keep getting it better and more proportional. ;3
Perhaps adding a furry check like my original would help add the 'naturally armless' look. *plays around with it*
Thanks again!

The suction feet would help a lot, but it's still top-heavy. One of my favorite armless designs has got to be the Slog from Abe's Odyssey; http://oddworld.wikia.com/wiki/Slog It's totally top-heavy and unbalanced, but those massive legs and the short stature make it work somehow. Maybe it can help you work out your Zymp.
I actually used to have a character kind of similar to this design, but instead of the tendrils I gave him 'rabbit ear arms'....very funky. XD Now that I think about it, I should go back and rework on that design. o-O

Nestly: Wow you sure have a lot of references! xD
I'll see what I can do with it. I already made the feet big and look like they're sticking more to the ground in my next image. :3 Hope it helps a little.
And that's cool. xD Do you have a picture of it? That sounds.. interesting, haha.
