A sausage dish with an apple/onion mix to jazz it up and savour that extra flavour from the kitchens of
razorwulff ...delcious.
This idea just popped in my head when I saw the sausages in my refrigerator. A stroke of Fall inspiration for you :)
Pan roasted smoked chicken-apple sausages over a bed of sauteed onions and apples w/ all-spice and thyme. Topped with a simple chicken pan gravy...
--Makes 2 Servings--
Ingredients:
- 1 Pkg - Smoked Chicken and Apple Sausages
- 1 Granny Smith Apple; peeled and medium diced**
- 1-2 Sm. Spanish Onions; rough chopped
- 1 Tsp. Dried Thyme Leaves
- 1/2 Tsp. Ground All-Spice
- 1-2 Cups Chicken Stock
- 1 Tbsp. Butter
- 1 Tbsp. AP Flour
- TT Salt
- TT Black Pepper
- 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil
- Splash of cold water
**Simple Apple Prep: Core and segment the apple, remove peels, and dice. Fill a small bowl with cold water and add the juice from a large lemon wedge. Keep the apples in the lemon water until ready to cook. This will keep it from browning. :)
Lightly brown your sausages in a large pan w/ a light dash of olive oil. When lightly browned, reserve sausages on a paper towel.
In same pan, saute the onions until semi-soft and translucent. Season lightly with salt and pepper to taste. Add apples and continue to saute for about 5 min. Add thyme and all-spice. Saute for 3-4 more minutes. Return the sausages to the pan ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6619757/ ), add the water, lower the heat to simmer and cover. The steam will warm your sausages through and wont compromise the onion saute. Cook for approx. 5-6 more min...stir occasionally.
During this time, heat a small pan. Add the butter and melt until it foams. Whisk in the flour... consistency should look like wet sand. Whisk lightly while it cooks for about 30-45 sec. Whisk in the chicken stock. Sauce will thicken quickly. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.
Plate your onion/apple saute. Place 2 sausages on top. Spoon a little of the gravy.
DONE!
Enjoy!
