This is the most god-awful photo ever. The clock and parts stick up too much, making a scan impossible, and the gobs of metallic paint make getting photos impossible. This is actually put together from over 20 individual photos. I took the photos in a spot to minimize the reflection as much as possible, so his wings are fully metallic, as well as much of the rest of the painting. I'm sick of trying to make work, so here it is.
Yep, the clock works! I've got to readjust the hour hand later...no use bothering now since I'm sure it'll get messed up in transit to Oklacon.
This is acrylics (and some guache) on masonite, so instead of being framed or matted, it sticks out from the wall and has clock parts that extend past the edges. First time I've painted with acrylics in a year. Probably the last time for another too. Paint is a major pain and getting usable photos or scans seem impossible.
In short- this looks much better in person.

Geez girl, you got a LOT of patience. lol I'd have probably just taken a photo and called it good, but wow - you can't even tell this is pieced together from multiple photos. Is this for the art show or auction? Either way, I hope it sells for a good amount, cuz it sure looks like a lot of time and effort went into it.
Well, it was three big ones, then I went in with tons of close-up photos and free-transformed the hell out of them to get higher resolution where it counted. Since I couldn't get a good photo or scan like usual, I had to settle with the less important areas being blurry.
Yep it is! I hope so too, if only because selling original paintings is my only motivation to do them, and I'm quickly losing motivation.

Photos of things like this really can be tricky to take, even with something like a full-movement monorail view camera, a complete lighting setup using softboxes, reflectors, gobos, and digital postprocessing. Hell, even with a repro stand designed for reproduction work.
I think you did an outstanding job! Both in the work and the capture

This is very inspiring! loving the colours and feeling in this. I can bet your feelings with this are slightly trial and error, i imagine acryllics not meshing well with metallics paints lol, plus minimizing and pieceing this image together must ot taken a lot of effort, very admirable work. :)
If this is going on auction how much are you willing to sell it on for?

impressive and amazing, especially the patience you had with it.
nifty pose and character, the wings really seem to be made of brushed brass feathers. and a clock in one wing, so you know when it's time to head home for tea, too. :)
and all those cogwheels and stuff... is that a tiny skeleton key dangling from that thread up there?
I'd like to see that scrapyard. I bet there are some clockwork critters buried under that stuff.
I hope it sold well!
