"What do you think is happening just off screen?"

A moderately sized pond, and the rest of the garden. With those two characters looking so relaxed, I'm almost certain that they're the only people in that area. It's probably a personal garden of some sort, now that I think of it.

"Why do you think the artist chose to use these colors?"

Considering the garden itself, the bright soft colors seem to hint that it is likely early afternoon. I will have to say that it's nicely done, as it allows the viewer to understand something like the time of day without drawing something as obvious as a sun. The greens are incredibly strong, but not in an overbearing way.

"What emotions do you think the artist is trying to convey with this piece?"

Love, obviously. Compassion as well, but that goes without saying. The softness of the colors also helps transmit the emotions over to the viewer in a subtle way; very 'cuddlely,' if that makes sense. It's definitely not a word, so says spell checker.
