I don't usually cross post between my 18+ account and here (i.e. this is the first time I've even done it), but I really am proud of this picture, and would like to share it here on my main account as well.
I'd also like to use this as a chance to I guess advertise my other account? I dunno, I like to keep the two very separate for various reasons, but I do think it's good to kind of solidify the other one's existence now and then, I suppose.
So yeah, I learned how to shade in Photoshop, and I actually really like how it came out. :D I'm particularly awful at drawing dresses, men's clothing, and drawings with perspective, and I feel I really was able to do all three of these things in this picture, so I'm extra excited about it. I may put up wallpaper versions of this pic on my alt account if enough people are interested.

I'd colour it a main colour, then set the layer the colour is on to transparent. Then, set the brush to the more blurry brush type, make the brush size really big and zoom out of the picture. Pick a shade of the main colour that is slightly darker, and brush over the main areas you want to shade, to show the direction your darker colours will be going in on the figure (with pressure sensitive opacity on). Pick a slighter darker shade, and shade over what you just shaded, but a little less of it. Repeat this, making the areas and shapes you shade in smaller and finer, and zooming in accordingly, while following the natural curves and contours of the figure you're shading, until you feel satisfied. Repeat for every colour layer. Lastly, use the eye dropper and select your first, main colour again. Pick a shade a little lighter than it, and brush over the parts of your colour not shaded, to give it just a little bit of a highlight.
I don't know if that makes sense, but it's about how I do it :3
