I've been aware and around in the fandom for about 14 years (gosh thinking about that makes me feel old!). I have friends from a few old message boards and such that have migrated here over the years. Thank you for the compliments :3

Haha made me laugh, I am sure that you are a lot more wiser than most I meet about all this then, I never knew It was existed that long but there you go. But yes I just wanted to ask you - I've been here for a month/fandom and at the moment I just feel denial about being a furry myself - I have heard from people the same thing about this: that I will eventually accept it over time - Im interested in your thoughts about this because I admire and respect that you have the knowledge and experience that most others do not have from time.

To be quite honest even after that long, I still tend to keep my RL self and my internet persona pretty separate. It's not something I go around proclaiming to my family and friends. Being furry to me doesn't really fall into the category that I think a lot of people perceive the fandom as. I don't suit or go to cons really. I don't think I am "part animal" or that I was an animal in a past life or anything. I'm not into drawing porn and don't have any really off-the-wall fetishes that I'm trying to satisfy. For me it's just about enjoying the art and being close to animals. I keep several pets IRL and really just enjoy their company, and I've always found animals more appealing and entertaining to draw than humans.

I guess I am probably not the best person to ask about this. I've seen many fervent discussions about the subject of being in denial about being a furry, and the general consensus seems to be that if you have a "fursona" or you draw furry art or enjoy furry art and the subculture surrounding it, then you are a furry. I don't feel that one should have to stick a label on themselves just because of what they enjoy, but I know a lot of people who would say otherwise.

Well it was interesting reading what you say because I quite agree, This is not something I would go around and tell everyone about either - It is true that the perception of furries to most people are suits or go to cons but I have taken the time to read about all of this online myself.
