I was thinking about emulating fur on my characters bodies now , mainly for paintings, but this here was more of an experiment in terms of how detailed the fur might be when it is in paintings.
i think it turned out okay^^

To be honest, I like it, and don't. the extra detail is good, but they look a lot more like feathers than they do for. For is generally thinner, which of course doesn't really work for your style, maybe, but all the same, I'd say you may want to look into tutorials and such to see what you actually want that looks the way that its actually supposed to. :)
As far as style goes, I've always liked your art even though I'm not a fat anything. You just have a really wonderful style.

Adding fluff is fine, but you gotta be careful. When you add clumps of jaggies like that, it gives off the presence of feathers on a simple level of detail. In color it'll work well together with the linework, but JUST in black and white/sketchwoks will confuse some folks for a while until they get used to it. I think one thing to do is like, spread out the jaggies a little more, [you can keep tails or manes extra floofy, but not too much on the body]. If trying for a more realisticy floofy thing, It'd suggest focusing like work jaggy points along shoulders, elbows, and knees mostly. Floofy or smoothed fur, it would be almost cowlicky since those areas bend and move a lot and wouldn't follow the grain of the rest of the fur. Even then, try to make the points small and subtle, and only worry about adding a whole lot of points on the fur when doing the coloring.
The look isn't bad, just new and different. Everyone is used to the smooth-everywhere look and it usually looks better with bodies that are fattened/inflated. With a few pokes with the style and a couple more submissions, things will even back out and people will get used to the style shift ^^
