I love the way this came out. The entire design and layout beautifully captures the power and majesty of the dragon, and the look and feel of my coyote, Tannis, sacrificing his soul, compliments the look to the dragon perfectly.
The colors of the dragon and surrounding terrain, all add a wonderful etherealness to the scene, enhancing the soul-devouring aspects of the dragon. The intense expression with glowing eyes and the way Tannis' soul is being pulled from his body and inhaled by the dragon, beautifully captures the insignificance and finality to the coyote's existence.
My thanks to ClearYellowRain for taking this commission and doing such a fantastic job with it.

Heh. That usually depends on the predator. Some can be gentle, with the experience being almost euphoric, while others might be violent and painful, where the soul is shred apart.
From the look of both Tannis and the dragon in this picture, I'd have to say it probably had a very satisfying feeling, as he was pulled from his own body and brought into that of a much more magnificent creature. Of course, I also imagine that the dragon eventually absorbed that soul, eradicating it from existence. ;)

I always kind of liked the idea of the soul being completely destroyed and ceasing to exist! Physical death doesn't do much for me, but soul death really does - especially if there's a still-living, soulless empty shell that's left behind (of course it won't last for more than a few days without either some sort of essence, or medical means.
