Well, by "paper doll" I mean some sort of Flash applet rather than literal paper. But that requires a Flash devkit. Or something. I'm not sure; it's been a long time since I actually looked into it!
For the swirly stuff, I just drew them with the pen in Manga Studio (much crisper and nicer than anything in the Photoshop Elements that came with my tablet) and added the outlines in a layer underneath it. I did all this in 600 DPI. I think that was the default setting.
And yeah, tailoring clothing around wings is quite a challenge, especially when I try to come up with something more modern-looking than the weirdo fantasy outfits I usually do. I don't think I quite succeeded here, but maybe next time.

Well, I sort of fell in love with Sai when I had a trial version. I've been using my sister's copy of Manga Studio because I don't have the full version yet. I put Sai on my birthday wish list, so hopefully I'll have it soon.
Working at higher resolutions is taking a bit of getting used to, but I trust it's worth it. I've pretty much been adjusting zoom and brush sizes to the point that I can work in basically the same way I did at 72 DPI, and trying to bear in mind that a lot of details get lost in scaling down and JPEG compression.

Hee, I've barely started using it myself. Right now I'm still exporting my lines to Photoshop because I don't know how to colour in Manga Studio yet. It doesn't seem to have the tools I'm used to using!
Hope you do find something you like, anyway. Your art's quite cute!

Midriffs do get very cold that time of year... Maybe have a lighter sleeveless poncho on underneath and a nice, big sash? His side's would still be exposed a bit, but i'm not sure you could do anything for that...
I live in the Golden State, so at the coldest time of year, fur is plenty warm enough and he has pretty dense fur normally.

Wow! I've loved the bat fashions you've done before, especially the cape/mantle/poncho things you do so well, but this is the first time you've really shown the wings themselves in detail. I was surprised to see that you have the patagia attached along the sholder blades and spine, instead of along the sides; that's an interesting variation, and certainly makes clothing design look a little more comfortable and simple.
(It'd certainly make COSTUME design simpler, if one wanted to make a bat fursuit ... hmmmm ...)
